Cornea Specialist

Overview We are seeking a fellowship-trained cornea specialist to join our Central Iowa staff based in our Des Moines clinic. Growth in patient load necessitates an additional specialist. The successful candidate should have cataract surgical volume, with an expected annual case rate around 1100. This role includes opportunities to strengthen established referral relationships within Wolfe Eye Clinic. Wolfe Eye Clinic is a multi-location, multi-subspecialty ophthalmology practice and Iowa’s largest ophthalmology clinic, with approximately 30 ophthalmologists across 13 offices. The practice has a long history and a track record of physician satisfaction and financial performance. Our statewide ophthalmology team includes cornea, glaucoma, retina, pediatric, oculoplastics and comprehensive ophthalmologists, with optometrists in main clinics and primary eye care clinics. The average physician compensation is typically in the top 10% nationally, and the practice uses a democratic partnership model with one vote per physician. We are committed to bringing the latest technology and treatments to the people of Iowa. Annually we see about 275,000 patients and perform about 31,000 major surgeries plus 80,000 minor procedures. Our team of 450+ staff supports doctors to focus on patient care and reduce administrative burden. Responsibilities Join a very busy practice as a fellowship-trained cornea specialist with a strong clinical and surgical focus. Provide cataract surgical services with an expected volume around 1,100 cases annually. Leverage existing referral relationships and contribute to building subspecialty referrals within the organization. Collaborate with a skilled clinical support team to optimize patient care and minimize time spent on administrative duties. Qualifications Fellowship-trained cornea specialist. Eligible to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa. Strong surgical interest and skills, with the ability to work in a high-volume setting.
