Copywriter The Copywriter is responsible for translating study goals, sponsor expectations, marketing plans, and campaign strategies into clear, compelling, audience-appropriate content that supports patient recruitment, engagement, and retention. This role requires a balance of creative writing, strategic thinking, leadership, collaboration, and meticulous attention to detail. The Copywriter will guide copy development from concept through completion, contribute as the primary writer on assigned projects, collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, and help ensure high-quality deliverables are completed on time and aligned to study, sponsor, and campaign objectives. This role also requires the effective and responsible use of AI tools to improve content development efficiency, expand creative exploration, and support study-specific content needs. Key Responsibilities Translate study goals, sponsor expectations, marketing plans, and campaign strategies into clear content strategies that support patient recruitment, engagement, and retention. Develop creative concepts, messaging approaches, and written content for campaign assets including marketing collateral, infographics, web copy, landing pages, social media, email, digital ads, and patient-facing materials. Serve as the primary writer on assigned studies and campaigns, ensuring copy is accurate, compelling, audience-appropriate, and aligned with campaign strategy. Distill complex clinical, scientific, operational, or market information into clear, concise, easily understood language without losing meaning, nuance, or accuracy. Collaborate with strategic marketing planners, project managers, graphic designers, digital producers, study teams, and other stakeholders to develop creative concepts and assets that engage and influence patient behavior. Work across functions and organizational levels, from individual contributors to front-line leaders, to gather comprehensive inputs and ensure content planning reflects business, study, sponsor, and patient needs. Apply digital marketing best practices, including SEO, SEM, email, web, social, and campaign performance considerations, to strengthen content strategy and execution. Participate in presenting concepts and copy to internal teams and sponsors, clearly explaining the rationale, strategy, and creative thinking behind the work. Proactively interpret, manage, and incorporate sponsor, internal, regulatory, legal, and study-team feedback while preserving clarity, accuracy, quality, and strategic intent. Rigorously review, proofread, edit, and enhance copy to ensure all deliverables are polished, consistent, on-brand, and appropriate for the intended audience. Demonstrate impeccable attention to detail, especially when handling study-specific information, patient-facing claims, eligibility criteria, timelines, calls to action, and sponsor-required language. Manage multiple concurrent assignments in a deadline-driven environment while balancing quality, speed, shifting priorities, competing inputs, and tight turnaround times. Guide copy work from concept through completion, helping ensure deliverables are completed on time and executed to a high standard. Contribute to copywriting and digital marketing best practices by recommending new creative channels, AI-enabled workflows, technologies, approaches, or campaign assets that improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. Bring a strategic point of view to content development by translating general market themes, patient insights, trend research, and campaign direction into focused messaging opportunities. Use data, performance insights, research, and market trends to inform content decisions and strengthen creative thinking. Act as an effective, customer-focused collaborator who builds strong working relationships across teams, departments, roles, and levels of the organization. Participate actively in Creative Services initiatives, internal task forces, process improvements, and strategic efforts that advance the quality and efficiency of the team's work. AI-Enabled Content Development Requirement This role requires the responsible and effective use of AI tools as part of the content development process. The Copywriter is expected to use AI to help efficiently craft, refine, adapt, and evaluate content that meets the specific needs of each study, sponsor, audience, and campaign channel. The Copywriter must apply human judgment, strategic thinking, fact-checking, and editorial oversight to all AI-assisted work. AI tools may support ideation and drafting, but final content must meet standards for accuracy, compliance, clarity, tone, and study-specific appropriateness. Candidates should be prepared to provide samples that demonstrate how they have used AI tools to: Generate initial content drafts, message territories, headlines, or campaign concepts. Simplify complex study information into clear, patient-friendly language. Create multiple content variations for email, web, social, paid media, or print channels. Adapt copy for different audiences, tones, reading levels, or campaign objectives. Improve content development efficiency while preserving accuracy, compliance, brand standards, and strategic intent. Refine AI-generated output into polished final copy through editing, fact-checking, and strategic revision. Leadership and Collaboration Expectations Guide copy team members and project partners by encouraging strong thinking, clear communication, and high-quality execution. Serve as a source of inspiration, positivity, creativity, and accountability within the Creative Services team. Mentor and support other writers by challenging assumptions, debating decisions constructively, and helping elevate the quality of the team's work. Lead by requiring people's best thinking, extending challenges, and holding self and others accountable for strong creative and strategic outcomes. Collaborate effectively with internal teams and sponsors, maintaining a professional, solutions-oriented approach throughout concept development, review, revision, and final delivery. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, journalism, media, film, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience and training. Strong portfolio of writing samples across digital and traditional channels, including campaign copy, patient-facing materials, strategic messaging, and AI-assisted content development examples. Demonstrated ability to use AI tools responsibly and effectively as part of the writing process, with samples that show prompt strategy, draft development, refinement, editorial judgment, and final content quality. Clear, concise writing style with the ability to simplify complex ideas into accessible, audience-appropriate language. Strong conceptual and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to balance innovative creative approaches with business objectives, sponsor needs, patient needs, and study requirements. Excellent editing, proofreading, and quality-control skills. Strong project management and organizational skills, with proven ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and tight deadlines. Ability to self-motivate, motivate others, and solve multiple creative and strategic challenges at once. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to mentor others and work effectively across disciplines. Understanding of digital marketing principles and how content supports performance across email, web, paid media, social, search, and other campaign channels. Ability to interpret market trends, audience insights, research, and campaign data and translate them into meaningful content opportunities. Appreciation for data and its role in driving bigger thinking, sharper strategy, stronger creativity, and more effective communications. Portfolio / Work Sample Requirements Candidates will need to provide a portfolio or writing samples that demonstrate: Strategic campaign writing across multiple channels. Patient-facing or healthcare-related content, where available. Ability to simplify complex information into clear, accessible copy. Strong editing, proofreading, and message refinement skills. Creative concepting and messaging development. AI-assisted content development, including examples of how AI was used to improve speed, quality, versioning, personalization, or creative exploration.
