Together, we’re living our purpose to create a world where healthcare has no limits.The Usability/Human Factors Engineer, with the guidance of the HFE Architect, works in close collaboration with a cross-functional team of UX Designers, UX Researchers, Engineers, clinical applications, customers and users, product management, marketing, and field teams to optimize user and system interaction and help define and develop new product technologies to meet user needs. This position has a strong focus on Human Factors Engineering to drive significant design improvements in product user interfaces and will be responsible for human factors-based research, analysis, and testing.**Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.**Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities:Work directly with end users and business partners to capture and analyze user workflow and user experience issues, and ensure translation of user, business, and technical requirements into interaction design concepts Work with new product development core teams to lead usability design and own usability-related program deliverables (Use analysis report, Use failure mode and effects analysis, etc.)Work with design teams to complete formative and summative usability studies including developing study plans, scripts, and reports during new product development.Provide domain expertise to participate in technical design reviews, technical discussions, and risk mitigations with focus on evaluation of design of user workflows, interactions, and experiences based on user-centered design principles and customer needsWork with Quality & Regulatory teams to ensure medical regulatory requirements are integrated within the product development processServe as a local thought leader and consulting resource for all user experience issuesUtilize observational research, usability tests, expert reviews, heuristic evaluations, customer surveys, and other user-centered design methodologiesSupport a user-centered design process throughout the company and contribute to overall user experience project planning and strategic initiativesRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math); Cognitive Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors; or equivalent experience 2+ years professional experience; or equivalent experienceDemonstrated problem solving ability and use of creativity to solve user needsDemonstrated experience working with a multidisciplinary teamDemonstrated program/project management skillsDemonstrated oral and written communication skillsFamiliarity with ISO, FDA and other regulatory standardsDesired Characteristics:Master’s degree in Engineering or Cognitive/Experimental Psychology with a concentration in Human Factors / Ergonomics, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field of studyExperience with Usability/Human Factors Work Instructions and International StandardsExperience conducting impact assessments, formative and summative studies Experience in product life cycle and/or software development life cycle Experience performing product design work in a highly regulated industry; medical device development strongly preferredUnderstanding of cultural variations and their impact on user needsWe will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
