DISABILITY INSURANCE PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVE

Overview Disability Insurance Services Representative—Employment Development Department (EDD) Classification: Disability Insurance Program Representative Salary: $4,055.00 – $6,310.00 per month (depending on experience and alternate range) # of Positions: 7 Work Location: Orange County (Office) Work Shift: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday Employment Type: Permanent, Full‑time Responsibilities Under supervision, the DI Services Representative will determine claimant eligibility for State Disability Insurance (SDI) Program benefits, including Disability Insurance, Paid Family Leave, and Nonindustrial Disability. Duties include conducting fact‑finding interviews, responding to inquiries, performing claim processing activities in accordance with laws, regulations, rules and policies; providing prompt, accurate, and courteous customer service; developing and delivering training on law, regulation, policy and procedures, medical duration control techniques, program integrity practices; recording and maintaining overpayment (OP) documents; processing OPs; conducting follow‑up collection actions for claimants and third‑party overpayments; and, when required, acting as an expert witness before the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board. Minimum Requirements Education and experience in civil service or related field that demonstrates knowledge and ability to determine eligibility, process claims, and maintain program integrity. Knowledge of SDI Branch cultural principles and ability to apply policy and procedures consistently. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
