Job TitleDesigns and develops detailed drawings independently, ensuring all designs meet applicable safety codes, best practices, and project needs in a cost-effective manner. Collaborates with various engineering and construction teams to ensure coordination, compliance, and timely project completion. Reviews work by others, maintains department standards, and supports design engineers. Requires strong CAD skills, communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail.Responsibilities• Independently design and develop detailed drawings, ensuring all designs meet applicable safety codes, current best practices, and project needs in a cost-effective manner. • Collaborate closely with project, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers to ensure coordination of disciplines in the final design effort. • Work with project and construction personnel to ensure construction methods are understood and projects are completed in a cost-effective and timely manner. • Document department standards and best practices for utilization across the division or company. • Maintain the department's electronic drawing files. • Review work completed by others (internal or external), as applicable, to assist colleagues in the engineering department. • Review shop drawings as required for outside fabrication. • Assist in the maintenance of construction and modification schedules to ensure accurate and timely completion of drawings.Education• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. • Technical school training in CAD (Computer Aided Design) desired.Experience• Must have a thorough working knowledge of and experience with AutoCAD. • Experience with Vulcan and/or the aggregate industry in a field or design position is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Must have CAD skills sufficient to produce designs in AutoCAD. • Must have the ability to operate large format plotters and scanners or demonstrate the ability to learn with minimal training. • Thorough knowledge of design specifications and practices, building codes, and the equipment utilized within the Company's plants is preferred. • Must have the ability to operate and communicate in a predominantly computer-oriented environment.Other Requirements• Independently design and develop detailed drawings, ensuring all designs meet applicable safety codes, current best practices, and project needs in a cost-effective manner. • Collaborate closely with project, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers to ensure coordination of disciplines in the final design effort. • Work with project and construction personnel to ensure construction methods are understood and projects are completed in a cost-effective and timely manner. • Document department standards and best practices for utilization across the division or company. • Maintain the department's electronic drawing files. • Review work completed by others (internal or external), as applicable, to assist colleagues in the engineering department. • Review shop drawings as required for outside fabrication. • Assist in the maintenance of construction and modification schedules to ensure accurate and timely completion of drawings.Job InfoJob Identification 1032Job Category EngineeringPosting Date 09/09/2026, 08:22 PMJob Schedule Full timeLocations 1421 Hildegarde St, Birmingham, AL, 35215, US (On-site)
