Senior Product Manager (Commercial)

The Role We're looking for someone with sharp commercial instinct and a genuine curiosity about customers. You'll own the market-facing layer of product at Duende: deeply understanding the developers and organizations who use our products, identifying where the biggest opportunities are, and making sure our product decisions reflect what actually matters to customers and the broader market. You'll work alongside a Technical PM who owns the engineering relationship and technical specs. Your job is to bring the customer and commercial context that shapes what gets built: co-owning prioritization so that the roadmap is grounded in both technical reality and market need. This is a high-ownership role for someone who loves being close to customers, brings structure to ambiguous problems, and has the range to move between a customer discovery call and an executive conversation about where the business is going. What You'll Build Spend significant time with developers, architects, and enterprise buyers through structured discovery interviews, conference conversations, and ongoing customer relationships and synthesize what you learn into clear product and commercial direction Co-own the product roadmap with the Technical PM: informing the PRD with customer and market context, and driving prioritization decisions grounded in user needs, market dynamics, and revenue opportunities Build and run a win/loss program using both qualitative interviews and quantitative signals, and make sure those insights actually change how we sell and what we build Own competitive research and maintain a data-informed view of the identity and IAM landscape Shape how Duende is positioned externally: develop the product narrative that helps customers, partners, and the market understand what we're building and why it matters Drive GTM alignment across product, marketing, and sales for major launches Work with GTM and sales partners to drive adoption: build the mechanisms and programs that help customers get value from what we ship Requirements 4–6 years in a product, product marketing, or commercial strategy role. Prior experience at a developer‑tools, security, or infrastructure company is a plus. Commercial instinct: you think naturally about features and user needs in the broader context of portfolio offerings, market sizing, revenue, ICP/segments A track record of building structured customer insight programs (e.g. Voice of Customer, win/loss frameworks, customer advisory councils) and maintaining them over time Sufficient technical fluency to have a credible conversation with a developer or architect. You don't need to write the code, but you should be able to follow where the pain is and ask the right follow‑up questions How You Work Organized and rigorous in how you work: you build systems, track what you've heard and from whom, and bring that discipline into how the team makes decisions Sound judgment about prioritization: you can distinguish between what's urgent and what's loud, and balance external customer requests against internal stakeholder needs An exceptionally clear communicator in writing, in customer conversations, and at conferences What Success Looks Like You've completed a listening tour across customers, prospects, and internal stakeholders and can articulate the top customer pain points and market opportunities You've established the win/loss program framework and conducted your first round of data gathering and analysis You've delivered an initial competitive landscape overview and identified key product feature gaps You've co-developed your first roadmap input cycle with the Technical PM, grounded in real customer and market evidence You've built working relationships across GTM and engineering and are a recognized voice in prioritization discussions Team, Salary and Location While the listed location is Austin, Texas, we have a worldwide, distributed team and will consider remote and flexible work arrangements worldwide. Duende's compensation package includes a market‑competitive salary ($150,000–$200,000) and benefits, the specifics of which will be commensurate with candidate experience and fit.
