DLI LABOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SUPERVISOR ADMINISTRATOR I SUPERVISOR

Introduction Maryland Department of Labor is accepting applications for a DLI Labor Law Enforcement Supervisor (Administrator I) position within the Division of Labor and Industry, Prevailing Wage Unit. Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to direct and assist in the direction and the daily operations of the Prevailing Wage Unit consistent with the standards and procedures adopted by the Commissioner of the Division of Labor and Industry. The role encompasses first‑line managerial responsibilities for investigative staff, oversees agency operations, and serves as a special assistant to an Administrator III. Position Duties Plans and organizes workload of investigative and administrative staff to ensure program performance and overall mission of the Division. Administers, reviews, and makes recommendations for investigations, inspections, and actions. Communicates with employers, employees, and other interested persons to collect unpaid obligations, issue enforcement documents, address inquiries, and provide conciliation services. Schedules and follows up on investigators’ field site work. Interprets and applies agency policies, rules, and regulations, implements new regulations and policies, sets goals and deadlines, and coordinates workflow with administrators of other units. Provides consultation to improve labor law compliance. Performs adjudication of labor law violations, provides testimony during hearings, enforces decisions, and promotes agency work through outreach. May work on sensitive projects requiring discretion and act as team leader for special projects. Monitors and tracks staff attendance and performance and ensures personnel evaluation is completed in accordance with law and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work. Selective Qualifications At least six (6) months of experience supervising wage and hour investigators. Preferred Qualifications Experience planning, organizing, and overseeing investigative and administrative staff workload to achieve program goals and performance standards. Experience interpreting and applying labor laws, regulatory enforcement procedures, investigative processes, and making enforcement recommendations. Demonstrated experience leading or supporting regulatory enforcement or investigative operations and coordinating complex workflows. License, Registration, and Certification Employees may be required to operate a motor vehicle and must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license in the State of Maryland.
