Field Service Technician

Job Description The Field Service Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting railroad diagnostic and monitoring systems across North America. Responsibilities Attention to detail while in the field to spot mechanical defects Ability to use Electronics Test Equipment (Multimeter, RJ45 Cable Tester, Oscilloscope) Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Create instructions documentation Strong customer service skills while on the phone / onsite Use common mechanical tools (wrenches, drill, and heavy‑duty tools) Lift 50 lbs. in the field Excellent communication (verbal and written) Installation and maintenance of equipment onsite Site monitoring and reporting of mechanical failures of system components Diagnose and resolve technical issues for all Machine Vision equipment in the field Keep records of service calls (Jira tickets), installations, and maintenance service repairs Diagnose and solve problems efficiently while on‑site/remote support Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components Train customers on proper use and maintenance of equipment Perform annual maintenance calibration (KinetiX Machine Vision Systems) Follow railroad industry regulations and safety protocols while working onsite Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance Minimum 65% travel requirement (international and domestic) Qualifications High School Diploma or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and/or Mechanical disciplines with minimum of 2‑3 years relevant field experience Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining railroad diagnostic and monitoring systems Education Requirement High School Diploma (Electrical and Mechanical with minimum of 2‑3 years experience) OR Associate/Bachelor’s degree (Electrical and Mechanical with 3‑7 years experience) Benefits and Compensation Salary range: $62,100 - $85,300. Compensation may be influenced by training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. Base pay range is subject to change.
