Senior Electrical Engineer - Wiring Design (Onsite)

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. The Strategic Defense Solution engineering organization in Richardson, TX is looking for an exceptionally motivated engineer to design and develop electrical systems for the integration of electronic equipment on military and commercial aircraft and ground stations. The role involves creating system wiring diagrams, circuit breaker panels, control panels, and other items using Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) tools. Engineering duties span the entire product lifecycle—from requirements capture and analysis through design, testing, and production—to ensure designs meet requirements at minimum cost. The position is onsite under a Special Access Program (SAP). Location: 461 ~ 3200 E Renner Rd, Richardson, TX461 Security Clearance: DoD Top Secret clearance required, U.S. citizenship required. What You Will Do: Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees. Integrate electrical components and wiring into design while meeting vendor and OEM requirements. Verify system configuration and block diagrams. Collaborate in a team environment with other functional areas, contributing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. Oversee electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness assembly drawings, circuit breakers, and electrical loads analysis. Coordinate aircraft electrical mission equipment installations. Identify, document, and communicate significant design and integration risks for timely review and resolution. Monitor and report aircraft installation design milestones and status to project/program management. Be self‑directed, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight. Qualifications You Must Have: U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance). Degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience. Experience with electrical design tools such as Visio, AutoCAD, Capital Harness, and Catia. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer: Experience with aircraft or other technical system integration. Knowledge of design and development processes across multiple phases of the hardware life cycle. Proven experience working with manufacturing teams, vendors, and suppliers to build cost‑effective solutions. Systems integration experience.
