Sr. Staff Accountant - Corporate

Description This position is responsible for providing timely and accurate financial statements to owners and management and for providing accounting support to the corporate office. Customer satisfaction will be achieved by ensuring the company’s need to have corporate management–related accounting information organized, processed and distributed accurately and promptly. The position also provides accounting leadership, including assistance with new company initiatives. Key Contributions Financial Statement Preparation and Review: Responsible for the monthly preparation and review of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts for reasonableness and accuracy. Reconciles control accounts to subsidiary documentation. Prepares general ledger adjusting journal entries at month end and publishes financial statements and budget variance reports for internal use. Financial Analysis/Budgeting: Preparation and reconciliation of year‑end work papers for tax returns and audits. Participation in the annual forecasting process including preparation of cash‑flow and balance‑sheet forecasts. Works with corporate departments to complete and maintain operational forecasts and other projects such as reviewing trial balances, redesigning financial statements, and expense transfer activity. Corporate Support: Responsible for invoicing and bill‑back process for internal and external customers. Handles all corporate deposits. Works closely with corporate management to ensure compliance with SOPs and serves as a corporate liaison from an accounting standpoint. File Maintenance: Complies with identified standards for the organization and retention of month‑end/year‑end financial/accounting records maintained by the department. Organizational Management: Applies knowledge of accounting to evaluate established controls and standardized procedures, identifies opportunities for improvements and alternatives to improve efficiencies within the department. Maintains written documentation of policies and procedures pertinent to the position. Customer Service: Maintains relationship with Corporate, Property Management and Accounting staff to address information‑reporting needs. Prepares accounting schedules routinely and as requested by internal management or as needed for external reporting requirements. Strategic Partnership: Expected to provide input and strategic solutions to assist business partners in driving revenue, profit, and quality. Self/Workload Management: Responsible and accountable for effective self/workload management. Ability to multi‑task and see responsibilities to completion under strict deadlines. Demonstrates clear written and verbal communication skills. Promotes collaboration and a positive, professional work environment. Adheres to and upholds all CSM Standard Operating Procedures. Position Requirements Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; preferred. Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 5+ years related accounting experience; strong working knowledge and experience in corporate accounting; effective interpersonal and project management skills; demonstrated experience with problem solving, prioritization, and adaptability; advanced computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; demonstrated oral and written communication skills; experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and financial report writing tools. Physical/Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office setting, may involve long periods of sitting. Must be able to move freely throughout the office as required. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 10 pounds and utilize a computer on a regular basis throughout the shift.
