High School Academic Dean for Math & Science

Philadelphia Performing Arts: A String Theory Charter School seeks a full-time Academic Dean to oversee approximately 10 High School Math and Science teachers and be a part of the administrative leadership team at Vine Street. This is a 12 month position that will start July 1st, 2026.

This position is to support the High School Assistant Principal in the supervision and evaluation of staff and will oversee the best interests of students in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school pursuant to the licensing and support agreement with String Theory Schools.

Achieving academic and artistic excellence requires that the school leader work collaboratively to direct and nurture all faculty hired by the High School Chief Academic Officer/ Head of School . Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for curriculum and program development, professional development and talent management.

Qualifications:

• Advanced Degree in Education or Related Field
• PA Certification - Principal PK-12 or in the process of obtaining
• Exemplary teaching evaluation scores
• Level II Instructional Certification (in general or specific secondary science and/ or secondary math)

• Frame issues for discussion, reach timely decisions, and works collaboratively to implement change
• Lead the effort to define and deliver an effective, consistent curriculum aligned to Meaningful Learning, including Standards-aligned curriculum and standards-based grading systems
• Communicate a vision for Technology Infusion and hold the high school faculty accountable to using technology as a vehicle to drive meaningful learning, routinely assessing and evaluating the technology used until it is fully optimized and becomes invisibly woven into the teaching and learning in all classrooms
• Exhibits excellent people skills
• Assist in recruiting and retaining high quality instructional staff using strong talent management practices
• Build relationships with students and families through thoughtful communication
• Analyze and regularly use both qualitative and quantitative data to inform practice
• Provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and
• innovative practices through various activities such as:
• Individual coaching sessions, and staff meetings,
• Facilitate PD for teachers with a focus on improving student performance
• Plan and conduct PLCs using Star/ LinkIt/ PSSA / Keystone Data Analysis
• Attend child study meetings and be prepared to use data to make informed decisions regarding students level of supports and support the implementation of said strategies
• Support in the analysis of Keystone assessment results and plan to use this data as well as PVAAS data to support building, revising and implementing curriculum
• Observe classes, evaluate lesson plans, instructional strategies, and effectiveness of delivery
• Plan and conduct vertical team meetings
• Assist school in creating a college and career ready school environment for all students
• Have a willingness to plan, host, and attend extracurricular events
• Fulfill other related duties as assigned
• Support in school supervision including but not limited to arrival, dismissal, transitions and select spaces (cafeteria, theater etc.)
