Market Research and Insights Analyst

The Market Research and Insights Analyst for the Performance Coatings Group (PCG) supports research and strategy initiatives across multiple PCG divisions and global regions. This role helps accelerate growth by gathering primary and secondary data, analyzing findings, and translating insights into clear, compelling stories that inform business decisions. The analyst captures customer, prospect, and internal stakeholder perspectives to guide customer experience, growth, innovation, commercialization, and strategic planning. This role also designs and executes fit-for-purpose qualitative and quantitative research, integrates multiple evidence sources, and delivers decision-ready recommendations to business partners. The role is part of the PCG Insights Team, which serves as the Voice of Customer center of excellence within the Group's Strategy and Marketing organization.

Voice of Customer Research

• Partner with business stakeholders to clarify the decision to be made, identify knowledge gaps, define learning objectives, and recommend the appropriate VoC approach.
• Lead or support primary end-to-end VoC engagements (quantitative and/or qualitative), from research scoping and participant strategy through fieldwork, analysis, synthesis, activation, and stakeholder readout.
  • Qualitative Methodologies:
    • Design and moderate in-depth interviews, focus groups, contextual inquiry, observational research, concept discussions, and other exploratory methods, in person or virtually.
    • Develop neutral, non-leading discussion guides and probing strategies aligned to research objectives and respondent roles.
    • Analyze qualitative data systematically through coding, theme development, pattern comparison, and segmentation by audience, market, customer type, or role when supported by the evidence.
    • Use verbatim feedback responsibly to illustrate findings while preserving context, confidentiality, and appropriate limitations.
  • Quantitative Methodologies:
    • Design and program structured surveys using sound questionnaire design, including unbiased wording, logical flow, appropriate scales, and clear response options.
    • Partner on sampling plans and fieldwork execution; monitor data quality, response patterns, and respondent composition.
    • Clean, analyze, and interpret quantitative data using statistical methods appropriate to the business question and data.
    • Integrate survey findings with qualitative and secondary evidence to provide a complete, balanced view of the customer and avoid overstatement.
    • Create clear data visualizations and executive-ready narratives that distinguish evidence, interpretation, limitations, and recommended action.
• Connect customer evidence to business implications, identifying needs, pain points, value drivers, moments that matter, unmet needs, and opportunities for action.
• Projects can include any mix of Customer Satisfaction, NPS, New Product Development/Innovation, Segmentation/ Personas, Branding, Communication Testing, etc.

Competitive Intelligence Projects

• Leverage internal and external resources to collect, analyze, and synthesize intelligence findings and reports.
• Analyze and communicate key industry updates, including but not limited to financial community calls, and publicly available financial reporting.
  
  

Strategy Projects

• Support strategy projects including Market Disruptors, Trend Analysis, and Strategic Opportunities as identified by Strategy VP.
  
  

Market Analysis

• Collect data in support of sizing business segment, CAGR / growth rates, key players and market share, along with market trends, working closely with agency partners, secondary data subscriptions, and other resources to provide stakeholders with relevant information and data.
• Collect and analyze data in support of analysis of major economic drivers and indicators for business units.
  
  

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
• Must have a 4-year degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Psychology, Economics or Communications fields, achieved by start date
• Must have at least three (3) years of consumer and/or B2B research experience AND/OR at least six (6) months experience within SW Market Insights department
• Must have experience demonstrating design and executing both qualitative and quantitative primary research
• Must have experience developing surveys and discussion guides, conducting interviews or focus groups, analyzing data, and presenting findings to business stakeholders
• Must experience implementing statistical concepts and proven judgment to select, interpret, and communicate analyses appropriately
• Must have at least one (1) year experience with Microsoft Tools (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
• Must have experience utilizing data visualization skills and experience presenting complex information in a concise manner
• Must have experience with market research, competitive intelligence, and market/industry data resources and tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Have experience with Survey Monkey or similar programming
• Have experience with Displayr or similar statistical analysis tools
• Have intermediate / advanced analytics experience in Excel and Tableau
• Have experience managing projects in a complex matrixed environment
• Have knowledge of global brand strategies
