Interim Staff Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Interim Staff Accountant to support a critical accounting project focused on reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and escheatment research. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in reviewing financial records, analyzing outstanding transactions, and ensuring accurate accounting treatment across multiple entities. This Staff Accountant opportunity is an 8-week engagement offering hands‑on exposure to complex accounting processes while working closely with accounting leadership. Responsibilities Perform bank reconciliations for multiple accounts and entities. Review and analyze intercompany invoices to ensure proper company and vendor allocations. Investigate and research uncleared checks and outstanding transactions. Determine appropriate disposition of uncleared checks, including write-offs, void and reissue activity, or remittance to applicable states. Support escheatment compliance efforts across multiple states. Apply strong debit and credit knowledge to resolve accounting discrepancies. Analyze financial statements and supporting documentation for accuracy. Utilize advanced Excel functions to organize, reconcile, and validate financial data. Cross‑reference accounting records and supporting schedules to identify inconsistencies. Collaborate with accounting leadership to address backlog items and meet project deadlines. Maintain accurate documentation of research findings and accounting conclusions. Assist with special accounting projects as assigned. Qualifications 2+ years of bank reconciliation experience within a company with at least $50M in annual revenue. 2+ years of accounting experience with strong understanding of debits and credits. Advanced Microsoft Excel experience, including SUMIFs, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data cross‑referencing. Experience reviewing financial statements and accounting records. Microsoft Navision experience preferred. Construction industry experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
