This role is a key partner to plant leadership, driving a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and corporate standards.The EHS Manager oversees critical programs including safety, fire protection, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, construction safety, training, and site security. This position plays a central role in identifying risks, implementing preventive measures, and monitoring performance to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the plant’s OHSE management system, ensuring alignment with regulatory and company requirementsPartner with plant leadership to develop and execute the site OHSE strategy, including assigning ownership and driving implementationDrive a strong safety culture through leadership, communication, recognition programs, and employee engagement initiativesConduct OHSE audits, inspections, and analyses to ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance; develop and track corrective action plans to completionEnsure critical risk assessments and job safety analyses are completed and that corrective actions are implemented effectivelyCollaborate cross-functionally with department personnel, supervisors, and operators to identify, resolve, and prevent workplace hazardsReview and oversee incident investigations to ensure completeness and accuracy; enter finalized reports into the corporate incident management systemAnalyze incident data, audit findings, and employee feedback to identify trends and prioritize improvement effortsServe as the primary liaison for external audits and inspections (e.g., OSHA, environmental, fire), ensuring readiness and complianceMaintain required regulatory records, including OSHA 300 logs, and ensure proper posting and documentationOversee environmental, fire protection, industrial hygiene, and site security programs to ensure compliance and effectivenessSupport construction and contractor activities by monitoring performance and ensuring adherence to safe work practicesChair plant safety committees and communicate OHSE updates through meetings, reports, and other communication channelsDevelop, deliver, and manage safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors; track compliance and maintain training recordsPartner with HR to support workers’ compensation coordination, job training programs, and safe work practices developmentDevelop and manage the annual OHSE budget, monitoring performance against targetsMaintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and related systemsWork closely with Regional and Corporate Safety teams to align on standards, share best practices, and drive continuous improvementMaintain a strong presence on the plant floor to coach, mentor, and reinforce safe behaviorUphold the company's food safety and quality standards, complying with all SQF requirements.Relationships:Regional OHSE Manager or Corporate OHSE ManagerPlant LeadershipAmcor co-workersInternal and External CustomersPhysical RequirementsNormal VisionHearing/ListeningSittingDistant VisionTalking/SpeakingStandingNear VisionHand/Finger DexterityWalkingStoopingPushing/PullingBendingKneelingClimbingDriving- ForkliftCarrying (>50 pounds)Lifting (50+ pounds)Driving Automobile/truck/vanCarrying (<50 pounds)Lifting (< 50 pounds)About YouBachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, or Safety Engineer or equivalent experience and technical training in lieu of degree.Three years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety field in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastics industry.Experience working with construction/contractors in a manufacturing environment.Ability to communicate across multiple teams and departments.Experience training and maintaining safety program records including Forklift, LOTO, and more.Ability to lead projects/initiativesChampions and builds a safety first culture.Certification in CSP or CIH preferred.
