Professional Researcher - Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (IHPS)

Position Overview The Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (IHPS) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) seeks one or more Professional Researchers at the Assistant, Associate, and/or Full level. Candidates should have a strong background in cutting‑edge research in the social sciences and health policy, particularly in long‑term services and supports, workforce development, and care for populations with diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities The successful applicant will: Lead independent research projects using rigorous qualitative, quantitative, or mixed‑methods, and policy‑analysis approaches to assess policies, programs, and clinical practices in dementia and long‑term care. Publish findings in high‑impact, peer‑reviewed journals and disseminate results to policymakers, healthcare organizations, and community stakeholders. Develop a research agenda examining the intersections of aging, dementia, caregiving, health inequities, and the healthcare workforce. Mentor junior team members and participate in community engagement activities relevant to long‑term services and supports policy. Contribute to the broader intellectual and collaborative community at IHPS and UCSF. Required Qualifications Doctoral degree in social welfare, sociology, social work, or a related discipline. Research training in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed‑methods research. Experience in aging, dementia, caregiving, healthcare workforce, and health inequities. Demonstrated ability to prepare strong, well‑designed applications for extramural funding. Experience in multidisciplinary research. Experience in mentoring early‑stage scholars and/or staff. Experience in preparing applications for extramural funding from federal, state, and/or nonprofit organizations. Preferred Qualifications Strong understanding of long‑term care services among Asian immigrant and Asian‑American communities. Research experience regarding the workforce that serves people with aging‑related disabilities, including immigrants. Training and/or experience in policy‑analysis methods. Training and/or experience in community‑engaged research design. Training and/or experience in evaluation research methods. Salary See Table 13B for the salary range. A reasonable estimate for this position is $93,400 – $248,400.
