dental insurance, vision insurance, parental leave, vacation time, paid time off, paid holidays, sick time, retirement plan The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a hardworking, outdoor-driven Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 to help build, maintain, and enhance Pennsylvania's game lands and wildlife habitats. In this role you will operate heavy equipment, construct and repair infrastructure, manage habitat projects, assist with prescribed fires, and work across forests, fields, and rugged terrain to support healthy ecosystems and public access. Responsibilities Land Maintenance: prepare and upkeep game land grounds and facilities using tools, equipment, and manual labor Trail Construction: build and repair trails, gates, signage, and infrastructure to support public recreational access Habitat Support: assist in creating openings, pruning trees, planting seedlings, and building wildlife structures Equipment Operation: operate and maintain tools such as chainsaws, snow blowers, and off‑road vehicles Safety Practices: follow safety standards, attend trainings, perform prescribed burns, and report unsafe conditions Support Programs: help with surveys, boundary line marking, nursery seed collection, and highway‑killed animal recovery Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break Alternate work schedules may be available Telework: not available Salary: starting salary may be non‑negotiable Qualifications One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment or one year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment One year of construction equipment operation experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training Possession of an active Pennsylvania non‑commercial ClassC driver’s license or equivalent Ability to obtain an active ClassA Commercial Driver’s License within one year of employment Ability to perform essential job functions Veterans Pennsylvania law provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs.
