NYSCI has approximately 105 full-time and over 130 part-time and casual staff members.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-oriented Omnichannel Retail Associate to join our team at the New York Hall of Science. The ideal candidate will have a passion for science education, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of omnichannel retail strategies. As an Omnichannel Retail Associate, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service, managing our retail operations across multiple channels, and enhancing the overall visitor experience.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

— Customer Service Excellence:

○ Greet and assist visitors in a friendly and professional manner.

○ Provide information about NYSCI exhibits, programs, and products.

○ Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and effectively.

— Omnichannel Retail Operations:

○ Manage inventory and stock levels across multiple sales channels, including in-store, online, and mobile.

○ Process online orders, including order fulfillment, packaging, and shipping.

○ Ensure accuracy of product listings, pricing, and promotions across all channels.

○ Monitor and respond to customer inquiries and reviews on online platforms.

○ Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and execute omnichannel marketing campaigns.

— Sales and Upselling:

○ Proactively engage with visitors to promote retail products and membership opportunities.

○ Drive sales by recommending relevant products and upselling add-ons or upgrades.

○ Process transactions accurately and efficiently using our POS system.

— Visual Merchandising and Store Presentation:

○ Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail environment.

○ Execute merchandising plans to highlight featured products and promotions.

○ Monitor and replenish inventory as needed to ensure product availability.

— Team Collaboration:

○ Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to ensure a seamless visitor experience.

○ Communicate effectively with fellow team members to coordinate tasks and share relevant information.

Other related responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in retail sales, preferably in a museum, science center, or educational environment.

REQUIREMENTS

— Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for providing excellent customer service.

Proficiency in using POS systems and online retail platforms.

— Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

— Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

— Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as needed.
