PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medication, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Essential functions include:
- Delivering medications to designated areas accurately and efficiently, including consolidating trips and recognizing priorities
- Filling stock, unit dose medications, medication orders accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner taking into account specific patient needs
- Stocking shelves and medication bins and all areas of the pharmacy
- Conducting IV preparation functions according to departmental processes using sterile technique
- Recording waste
- Answering phone and determining order status; triaging calls for appropriate resolution
Education requirements:
- CA Pharmacy Technician from the CA Board of Pharmacy is required.
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
