Tax Assistant Position
Washington & Co Inc. is a strategic tax and accounting advisory firm. We specialize in proactive tax planning for business owners—not just tax preparation. We help clients reduce tax liability through customized, compliant strategies and year-round advisory support.
Role Overview
We're looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Assistant who's eager to grow into a Tax Preparer role. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who loves learning, enjoys working with numbers, and wants to build a career in tax and accounting at a strategic, forward-thinking firm.

Responsibilities
- Assist the tax team in gathering, organizing, and reviewing client documents.
- Input financial data and prepare workpapers for individual and business tax returns.
- Support the preparation of basic tax returns under supervision.
- Communicate with clients to request missing information or clarify details.
- Help implement firm processes such as electronic filing, tax document management, and client onboarding.
- Participate in training and professional development to prepare for advancement.
Required Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative support (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills — professional, clear, and client-friendly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, or similar tools.
- Experience with tax or accounting software is a plus (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, or QuickBooks).
- Desire to grow into a Tax Preparer role through mentorship and hands-on learning.
Preferred (Not Required)
- EA or CPA (or actively pursuing)
- Experience with S-corps and partnerships
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $50,000–$55,000 (based on experience)
- 100% Remote
- PTO (single PTO policy)
- Health insurance eligibility after 60 days
- Education assistance up to $5,250 annually after 1 year
