About the Position

Shift: 5x8s Evenings Mids 3pm start and 5x8s 11pm start Nights both available (40 Hour Guarantee)

Job Responsibilities

• Psychiatric Assessment & Care: Perform mental status examinations, comprehensive behavioral assessments, and continuous monitoring of patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises or chronic mental illness.

• Milieu & Crisis Management: Maintain a therapeutic environment; recognize early signs of escalation and execute verbal de-escalation techniques or crisis intervention protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.

• Medication Administration: Safely administer, monitor, and document psychotropic medications, tracking therapeutic efficacy, adverse reactions, and laboratory metrics.

• Collaborative Planning: Work closely with psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists to implement individualized behavioral treatment and discharge plans.

Requirements

Job Requirements

• License: Active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the CA BRN.

• Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of recent inpatient psychiatric facility, crisis stabilization, or behavioral health unit experience.

• Certifications: Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS. Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) de-escalation certification is highly preferred or required by the facility.

• Knowledge: Strong understanding of DSM-5 classifications, psychiatric medication profiles, and California mental health laws (e.g., 5150 hold regulations).
