Research Associate 1- Myeloma

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Research Associate 1 to work at the UHealth campus in Miami, Fl.

The Research Associate 1, SOM supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research.

Core job functions include understanding and interpreting research protocols and procedures, participating in the publication of significant results, maintaining an overview of relevant research findings, ensuring all research is undertaken according to good research practice, keeping abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research, collecting, preparing, analyzing, dissecting, and evaluating specimens or tissue cultures, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, performing a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies, performing calculations to complete research test results, collecting data, and performing statistical analysis of laboratory results. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Core qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail, ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines, ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion, ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary, commitment to the University's core values, and ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Department specific functions include supporting active translational and clinical research focused on improving outcomes for patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma, assisting with the integration and analysis of clinical, demographic, therapeutic, genomic, and measurable residual disease (MRD) data using artificial intelligence–driven approaches to support predictive modeling and outcomes research, responsibilities include data abstraction, database management, statistical analysis, and collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams to facilitate patient-specific, tailored therapeutic decision-making. The position will also contribute to manuscript preparation, research reporting, and ongoing grant-supported initiatives within the institute.
