Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 / year + Bonus Potential
About Us
We are a top-performing, highly celebrated restaurant in Newtown, PA, known for our seasonally inspired, scratch-made menu. We take pride in delivering exceptionally fresh, high-quality food to our guests. We are currently looking for an ambitious, hands-on Culinary Leader to step in as Sous Chef and help strengthen our back-of-house (BOH) operations.
Job Summary
As our Sous Chef, you will be the backbone of our high-volume scratch kitchen. You will work closely with the Executive Chef to drive culinary excellence, manage daily kitchen operations, and lead a dedicated team of line cooks and prep staff. Key Responsibilities
- Kitchen Leadership: Act as a hands-on culinary leader, managing daily shifts and ensuring smooth, efficient BOH operations during high-volume services.
- Team Development: Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff. Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous growth.
- Menu Development: Assist the Executive Chef with creative menu development, utilizing seasonal ingredients and executing recipes to exact standards.
- Systems Management: Implement and oversee a strong systems approach to prep, line checks, inventory tracking, and quality control.
- Safety & Sanitation: Maintain an impeccably clean kitchen and ensure strict compliance with all local health codes and food safety standards.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Sous Chef or Kitchen Management experience in a high-volume, scratch-kitchen environment.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record of team development, training, and effective communication.
- Operational Expertise: Strong understanding of kitchen systems, food cost management, and high-volume execution.
- Certifications: Current ServSafe Certification is required.
- Work Ethic: Highly ambitious, hands-on approach, and the ability to work 45–55 hours per week.
