Overview Provide support to all eligible families with expectant parents and parents of children from birth to 3 years of age. The program seeks to support young military families to contribute to mission readiness, support family members’ adaptation to military life, and enhance knowledge and skills for healthy relationships that create safe, nurturing environments for children to prevent family violence. Provide activities and services including information and referrals, parenting programs, respite care for children, and supervised play time for children. Families with children prenatal to 3 years old who have been assessed as at risk for child maltreatment and/or family violence can benefit from additional, more-intensive support. Responsibilities Provide effective, timely, and confidential services for families assessed as being at risk for child maltreatment and/or family violence. Protect privacy and confidentiality of client information; identify and report suspected child abuse and domestic abuse. Assess developmental milestones and referral procedures for indicators of special needs or developmental delays. Assess and strengthen adaptation to parenthood and parental capacity for problem-solving, building and sustaining trusting relationships, and seeking help when necessary. Promote developmentally appropriate parenting skills, disciplinary techniques, and parent–child communication skills. Facilitate informal and formal community networks to reduce social isolation and build positive relationships. Develop relationships with local community and military installation officials and organizations to maximize program effectiveness. Utilize community-based services and networks to provide concrete support for families in crisis; employ screening and assessment methods addressing protective and risk factors using a strengths-based, family-centered, developmental approach. Maintain an up-to-date tracking system with case status; participate in monthly conference calls and annual training events. Assume additional duties as assigned by a leader consistent with the job’s intent. Qualifications At least two (2) years of direct work experience in child abuse or domestic abuse, or maternal or child health or medical social work. Current and active license as an LCSW, LMFT or RN; Licensed Clinical Social Workers must possess a current, valid, unrestricted clinical license and a master’s degree in Social Work. For Registered Nurses: at least a bachelor’s degree in nursing, current unrestricted license in the states/territories, and at least two (2) years of direct work experience in related fields. Home visitation experience. Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to operate a motor vehicle. Working knowledge of basic computer skills; ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Ability to operate general office equipment; effective communication in person and by telephone; ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to travel as needed and comply with AFSC travel policies; ability to enter private homes that may have accessibility challenges. Ability to transport self between offices, homes, and training sites. Education and Licensure Details Education: Bachelor’s in Nursing; Master’s in Counseling or Social Work preferred. Licenses and Certifications: LCSW or LMFT or RN as applicable (preferred). Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: Minimum $58,440 – Maximum $93,500. Salary may vary by location and is based on experience, education, and other factors. Eligible for short-term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
