Whether you're a few years in or a seasoned pro with over a decade of experience, this role offers real flexibility. They’re open to candidates anywhere from 1 to 15 years in workers' comp defense. Job Details You'll represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators across the full lifecycle of workers' comp cases — from investigation through hearings, trials, and appeals. The firm values strategic thinking and genuinely invests in its attorneys’ growth. What you'll be doing: Represent clients at every stage of workers' comp litigation — investigations, depositions, hearings, trials, and appeals. Advise clients and build strategic defense plans aimed at the best possible outcomes. Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs. Dig into complex medical and legal records to build strong case positions. Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, judges, and other stakeholders. Negotiate settlements and advocate hard for clients' interests. Stay sharp on changes in workers' comp law and adjust strategy accordingly. Engage in ongoing CLE and professional development. What you bring: JD from an accredited law school. Active California State Bar membership. 1‑15 years of workers' compensation defense experience. Strong grasp of CA workers' comp laws and regulations. Sharp analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a busy caseload. A track record of strong case outcomes. Comfort with legal research tools and case management software. Independent and collaborative working style. Bonus points for: Experience representing a mix of clients from large corporations to small businesses. Trial experience in workers' comp matters. Bilingual skills (Spanish).
