Sr. Staff Accountant

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Vice President / Controller, this position performs a variety of accounting duties in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures. This role operates within a hybrid work environment , combining in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility, based on business needs.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform a range of complex accounting tasks in a team environment, including general ledger reconciliations, correspondent bank reconciliations, and month-end accruals
• Research, analyze, and reconcile accounting discrepancies and account records, including bank statements and financial reports
• Recommend solutions for resolving discrepancies both internally and externally
• Contribute to a positive work environment by maintaining courteous, respectful, and effective communication with employees and members
• Compile and verify the accuracy and integrity of accounting data
• Assist other Credit Union staff in resolving accounting-related issues
• Prepare routine accounting reports (daily, weekly, and monthly) and assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Maintain and update accounting records in accordance with established standards
• Provide backup support to other team members, including Accounts Payable functions

Other Duties

• Attend staff, departmental, and other required meetings and trainings.
• Provides service to our membership communities by actively volunteering time to local civic and charitable organizations.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Experience, and Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer and Equipment Skills

• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite of Excel, Word and Outlook
• Use of online teleconferencing software (e.g., Zoom or Teams).

• Use of online general ledger system (e.g. Prologue Financials or Oracle)

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is required to use hands, handle and feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The individual frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. The individual is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or lift up to fifteen pounds.
