Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Civil Litigation Associate for an onsite opportunity in Tysons, Virginia. This role is ideal for an attorney with 3-5 years of civil litigation and trial experience who wants meaningful case ownership, direct client contact and the opportunity to strengthen courtroom and trial skills within a collaborative practice.

The attorney will manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution and participate actively in litigation strategy, pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, arbitration and trial preparation. Significant responsibility is provided from the beginning, with guidance and mentorship from experienced attorneys and team leadership.

COMPENSATION
• $111,000-$180,000
• Performance-based bonuses
• Final compensation depends on experience, qualifications and demonstrated litigation ability

LITIGATION & CASE MANAGEMENT
• Manage a diverse civil litigation caseload from inception through resolution
• Conduct client consultations and develop litigation strategy
• Draft pleadings, motions and discovery
• Manage cases independently while collaborating with the legal team
• Maintain regular communication with clients throughout their matters
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients

DEPOSITIONS, HEARINGS & TRIAL WORK
• Take and defend depositions
• Argue motions before the court
• Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations
• Prepare matters for trial, arbitration and evidentiary hearings
• Participate in first-chair and second-chair trials depending on experience

CONSTRUCTION-RELATED LITIGATION
• Work on matters involving residential construction disputes
• Handle issues involving defective construction, contract disputes and project delays
• Work on mechanic's liens, payment disputes and warranty claims
• Coordinate with construction experts and consultants
• Apply transferable civil litigation skills to construction-related matters

CLIENT ADVOCACY & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
• Advocate directly for clients throughout litigation
• Develop litigation strategy and manage assigned caseloads
• Build practical courtroom and trial experience
• Receive mentorship and guidance while taking meaningful responsibility
• Develop a professional reputation within a growing litigation practice

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school REQUIRED
• Active license to practice law in Virginia REQUIRED
• 3-5 years of civil litigation and trial experience REQUIRED
• Strong legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills REQUIRED
• Experience managing cases independently REQUIRED
• Deposition, hearing and motion-practice experience REQUIRED
• Excellent client communication and organizational skills REQUIRED
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment REQUIRED
• Local candidate able to work onsite in Tysons, VA REQUIRED
• Stable work history REQUIRED
• Compensation expectations within the stated salary range REQUIRED

PREFERRED
• Maryland and/or Washington, D.C. bar admission
• Construction litigation experience
• Commercial litigation experience
• Real estate litigation experience
