DLI LABOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SUPERVISOR (ADMINISTRATOR I SUPERVISOR)

Overview Maryland Department of Labor is currently accepting applications for a DLI Labor Law Enforcement Supervisor (Administrator I) within the Division of Labor and Industry, Prevailing Wage Unit. Location 7300 Calhoun Place, Rockville, MD 20855 Main Purpose The main purpose of this position is to direct and assist in the daily operations of the Prevailing Wage Unit, oversee investigative and administrative staff, and serve as a special assistant to an Administrator III. Responsibilities Plan and organize workload of investigative and administrative staff to ensure program performance and meet mission of the Division. Administer, review, and make recommendations on investigations, inspections, and actions in line with agency priorities. Communicate with employers, employees, and other stakeholders to collect unpaid obligations, issue enforcement documents, address inquiries, and provide conciliation services. Schedule and follow up on investigators’ field site work. Interpret and apply agency policies, rules, and regulations; implement new regulations and policies as directed. Set goals and deadlines, oversee workflow of PWU, and coordinate with other units. Provide consultation services to improve labor law compliance, including written and oral communication and group presentations. Adjudicate labor law violations, provide testimony at hearings, and enforce decisions by issuing demands, citations, penalties, subpoenas, and other notices. Monitor and track staff attendance and performance, ensuring personnel evaluation and performance processes comply with law and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Four years of administrative or professional work experience. Substitutions available: 30 college credit hours per year of experience, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or U.S. Armed Forces commissioned officer experience in staff or supervisory roles. Selective Qualifications At least six months of experience supervising wage and hour investigators. Desired Qualifications Experience planning, organizing, and overseeing workload of investigative and administrative staff to meet program goals. Experience interpreting and applying labor laws, regulatory enforcement procedures, and investigative processes. Demonstrated experience leading or supporting regulatory enforcement or investigative operations, coordinating complex workflows, and ensuring accurate documentation. Licenses and Special Requirements Motor vehicle operator’s license valid in Maryland if assigned duties requiring vehicle operation.
