Campus Police Officer Job Requisition ID: JR0000000897 • Number of Openings: 1 • Shift: Any • Compensation: $59,280.00/YR • Location: Alpharetta Campus, Gwinnett Technical College (Alpharetta‑North Fulton campus; occasional work at Lawrenceville Campus) Job Description Summary This full‑time, benefited, FLSA Non‑Exempt position reports to the Chief of Police at Gwinnett Technical College. The Campus Police Officer performs a full range of law‑enforcement duties to maintain security and order on a technical college campus. The role involves safety‑sensitive responsibilities and requires pre‑employment drug testing, fingerprinting, regular background check, psychological evaluations, deception tests, reference checks, and random drug and alcohol testing. The selected candidate must also complete post‑offer screening activities. Duties/Responsibilities Guard and monitor campus buildings. Answer alarms and investigate disturbances. Investigate criminal complaints and vehicle accidents. Coordinate with State Patrol and adjacent law enforcement jurisdictions; apprehend criminal suspects and turn over for booking or incarceration. Inspect assigned areas for fire or environmental hazards. Authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against and maintain security of premises. Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion. Respond to fires, natural disasters, or other hazardous events. Warn persons of rule infractions, apprehend or evict violators, and use force if necessary. Write reports of daily activities and irregularities. Coordinate disaster response or crisis management activities such as opening shelters, special needs programs, and evacuation. Inspect equipment and facilities to determine operational and functional capabilities. Collaborate with others to prepare and analyze damage assessments following emergencies. Escort or drive motor vehicles to transport individuals and provide personal protection. Direct traffic during special events and provide event security. Maintain Peace Officer Standards Training certification. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED. P.O.S.T certification. Pre‑employment drug testing, fingerprinting, background check, psychological evaluation, deception test, and reference checks required. Preferred Qualifications Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment. 10 years of police law‑enforcement experience.
