Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Job Summary Assistant Director of Financial Aid – responsible for managing financial aid operations, supervising staff, ensuring compliance, and coordinating with various stakeholders. Responsibilities Supervise and train Financial Aid Counselors and student workers. Import and export all Department of Education files to CRIS and COD via PowerFaids and Edconnect (FAFSA, corrections, origination/disbursement files for Pell Grant, Teach Grant, and Direct Student Loans). Request and review reports from NSLDS and COD as needed. Monitor students’ Direct Loan and Pell Grant lifetime amounts to ensure compliance with limits. Disburse all financial aid funds and reconcile aid, ensuring timely requests and receipts. Cooperate with the Louisiana Vocational Rehabilitation Program and the Workforce Investment Act Program, completing eligibility paperwork and posting awards. Process and award employee tuition exemptions. Monitor class changes (add, withdraw, resign) and adjust aid accordingly. Perform Return to TitleIV processes for students resigning from all classes, calculate and return required aid, and notify relevant offices. Maintain the financial aid website, NetPartner, and social media sites. Annually update selection sets, letters, and documents for new award years in Powerfaids. Remain current on federal, state, and institutional policies to ensure compliance. Send weekly notices to students missing required documents. Act as primary contact for Pell Grant, student loans, and TEACH Grant issues. Administer Pell Grant, TEACH Grant, Direct and private student loans. Assist students and parents with all financial aid matters. Award financial aid and make adjustments as needed. Participate in financial aid workshops and outreach events. Cascade collaboration across administrative and academic departments to resolve student issues. Serve on the Request to Waive Fees committee with the Registrar and Bursar Assistant Directors. Assist in planning, implementing, and updating student information systems. Support the Director and other staff as needed. Qualifications No specific qualifications are listed for this position.
