Job Description Job Description Description: A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Dental Assistant on the St. Louis, Missouri campus. This position reports to the Assistant Director MOSDOH Clinical Operations. The Dental Assistant will perform a variety of technical duties to assist in the examination and treatment of patients: perform related duties involved in the care, maintenance and distribution of dental instruments, equipment and supplies. Cross-trained to rotate through various areas of the dental school. Support third- and fourth-year dental students. Covers receptionist area as needed based on patient load. Duties & Responsibilities Assist dentists and dental students during examinations and procedures by providing instruments, equipment, chairside support, and real-time documentation of findings and treatment. Prepare, sterilize, disinfect, log, and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment areas in accordance with infection control and safety standards. Set up dental operatories and instrument trays; prepare and handle dental materials, impressions, and model pour-ups. Prepare patients for dental treatment by obtaining health histories, vital signs, consent forms, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout procedures. Continuously observe patients and report any changes in condition to the dentist or supervising provider. If certified and as needed, monitor and document nitrous oxide treatment. Accurately document and maintain patient records, including charting treatment, scanning documents, and ensuring completeness and confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: Skills & Experience High school diploma. Graduate from dental assistant school. Active CPR Card. One to three years of dental experience. Knowledge: Understanding of dental procedures, terminology and techniques; computer literate with previous EDR experience. Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others; good oral and written communication including telephone skills.
