This position also prepares clinical areas, instruments, and materials, provides imaging services, and utilizes four-handed dentistry. This position involves periodontal charting and instructs patients in oral hygiene and have a firm grasp of dental procedures. The Dental Assistant will professionally communicate with the Dental Assistant team, faculty, and residents, while providing exemplary patient care.Primary Job ResponsibilitiesUtilizes special solutions and sterilization bags; disposes of biohazard accordingly and maintains infection controlPrepares operatories and instrument trays for procedures for multiple disciplinesReviews schedule for each discipline to properly prepare for the day; minimal periodontal chartingCleans, oils, and sterilizes equipmentPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent communications skillsTeam player and ability to multi-taskKnowledge of dental procedures and terminologyAbility to operate dental equipmentAbility to provide imaging servicesAbility to maintain infection control and sterilization of dental equipmentAbility to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policyMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or the equivalentSix months of experience or training as a dental assistantPreferred QualificationsCertified Dental Assistant (CDA)Hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.Starting at $18.00 per hour, with pay based on experience.Function: Dental StaffScheduled Weekly Hours: 40Saint Louis University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
