Progam Manager for Prevention, Health & Wellness

Job DescriptionThe division of Prevention Health and Wellness (PHW) has an outstanding opportunity for Program Manager for Prevention, Health & Wellness to join their team.About this Opportunity:Reporting to the Associate Director of Prevention Health and Wellness (PHW), the Program Manager (PM) is a full-time professional staff position that directly oversees and provides coordination of the day-to-day supervision and advising of student leaders, events, and programs focused on student-centered health and wellness education and prevention. The Program Manager supervises and develops student peer health educators; ensures that educational content reflects current evidence-informed practices; builds collaborative relationships with campus and community partners; and assesses program reach, quality, and impact.The Program Manager should be a high energy, positive role model who is committed to student affairs, leadership education and the specific needs of our key populations (e.g. undergraduate, graduate, residential, commuters & transfer students). The position involves high student contact, and occasionally requires evening and weekend hours to support programs and events.Key Responsibilities:Program Operations and Management (35%):Oversee the planning, implementation, and ongoing development of the peer health educator program in alignment with departmental priorities and identified student needs.Develop annual program goals, work plans, educational calendars, and implementation timelines.Coordinate peer health educator initiatives related to health education, prevention, mental health promotion, healthy relationships, sexual health, basic needs, substance-use prevention, stress management, and other emerging wellness topics.Apply current evidence-informed, equity-centered, accessible, and culturally responsive practices to program design and delivery.Monitor program quality, identify operational needs and risks, and make recommendations to department leadership.Stay current with professional literature, emerging practices, and relevant guidance in college health education, prevention, and peer education.Coordinate programs and activities logistics which include preparation of contracts, purchasing, room reservations, registration processes, facilities requests, and other related documents as necessary. Coordinate with other departments as appropriate.Assist with the development and management of program and department budgets. This may include purchasing, budget reconciliation, and fiscal oversight of one or more budgets.Peer Education and Student Staff Supervision (30%):Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate paid student peer health educators and other assigned student program staff.Develop and facilitate initial and ongoing training in health communication, facilitation, outreach, ethical practice, boundaries, inclusion, accessibility, and professional development.Assign and prioritize student work, monitor progress, and support a sustainable and developmentally appropriate workload.Guide student employees in developing workshops, campaigns, presentations, social media content, handouts, and other educational materials.Review student-created materials for accuracy, accessibility, cultural responsiveness, consistency, and alignment with current best practices.Coordinate with academic departments or sponsoring organizations regarding the performance of interns, field-placement students, or service members, when applicable.Outreach, Education, and Partnerships (25%):Develop, coordinate, and deliver workshops, campaigns, events, and educational programming for students and the campus community.Build and maintain collaborative relationships with campus departments, faculty, staff, student organizations, and appropriate community partners.Coordinate partner participation in educational programs, workshops, trainings, and campus events that align with departmental priorities.Develop inclusive communication and outreach strategies that increase awareness of health and wellness programming and normalize help-seeking behaviors.Provide consultation to campus partners regarding health education trends, student wellness needs, and effective prevention and outreach practices.Represent the department on relevant committees, workgroups, and collaborative initiatives as assigned by department leadership.Assessment and Other Duties (10%):Develop and implement assessment methods for programs, campaigns, educational activities, and student staff development.Track and analyze participation, engagement, learning, and other relevant program indicators.Gather feedback from students and partners and use findings to improve program quality and accessibility.Prepare reports and recommendations that communicate program progress, outcomes, needs, and opportunities to department leadership.Participate in department and campus meetings, trainings, committees, and professional development related to the scope of the position.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in public health, student affairs, education, behavioral or social sciences, or a related field and 3 years of progressively responsible experience in health education, health promotion, prevention, peer education, student affairs, or a related area.Additional Qualifications:Experience and competencies in program planning and implementation; supervision, coaching, or mentoring of students or emerging professionals; experience working effectively with individuals from varied background and lived experience; commitment to equity, inclusion, accessibility, and culturally responsive practice; strong written, verbal, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizational units; ability to exercise independent judgment, maintain privacy, apply appropriate boundaries, and consult when needed; organizational and project-management skills; and proficiency with common office, communication, presentation, social media, and data-tracking technologies.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in a college or university setting; experience managing a peer health education program; experience developing health education curricula, workshops, and/or campaigns; knowledge of college student health and wellness trends.Working Conditions:This is primarily an in-person, student-facing position with remote flexibility as operational needs allow.Some scheduling flexibility, including occasional evening or weekend work, may be required to accommodate student programming, trainings, meetings, and campus events.Local travel may occasionally be required for partner meetings, trainings, or professional development.Application Requirement:This recruitment requires a cover letter.
