Research Fellow — Biotech Investment & Research

Paid part-time fellowship | Remote, United States | 5–8 hours per week | Initial 12 weeks

Compensation: US$20–50 per hour, based on relevant skills and experience, and never below the applicable minimum wage at the work location. All work time, including required meetings and training, is paid.

We are developing a platform focused on therapeutic assets, licensing, strategic partnerships and NewCo formation.

The opportunity

We welcome life-sciences PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and university faculty, including professors, who want to explore biotechnology investment, business development and company creation. This is a focused, part-time research fellowship compatible with academic commitments. Other graduate students with strong relevant research experience are also welcome.

What you will do

• Review scientific papers, clinical trial registries and public company materials.

• Prepare source-linked summaries of mechanisms, clinical evidence, competing programs and open questions.

• Help maintain an opportunity tracker covering biotechnology assets, including programs originating in China and Asia.

• Support concise initial screening notes within one agreed therapeutic area.

• Discuss research findings with senior colleagues; material scientific, investment and transaction decisions remain with experienced team members.

What you will learn

How scientific evidence informs asset screening, licensing questions and NewCo development planning. The fellowship includes a weekly research review and feedback on written work. Tasks and deadlines will be agreed within the paid weekly hours.

Who we are looking for

• Current graduate study or substantial research experience in medicine, pharmacy, biology, biotechnology, biostatistics or a related field; PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and university faculty are encouraged to apply.

• Ability to read scientific and clinical evidence critically and write clear, concise English summaries.

• Mandarin proficiency is strongly preferred for reading Chinese project materials and communicating with China-based teams. Applications are open to all backgrounds.

• Interest in investing, licensing, business development or company building; prior finance experience is not required.

• Reliable availability for 5–8 paid hours per week over an initial 12-week period.

• Appropriate authorization for paid work in the United States before starting. Participants must obtain any required university, program or supervisor approvals for outside work and manage applicable conflicts of interest. We can provide accurate role documentation for school review; eligibility or authorization is not guaranteed.

Submit your CV and a brief note on your research area, interest in biotech investment/BD, Chinese and English working proficiency, weekly availability and earliest start date. An existing non-confidential writing sample is welcome. No unpaid company research assignment is required to apply.

Selection includes a short recruiting conversation and a structured discussion of an existing research example. Any additional work assessment will be separately agreed and paid. High-performing fellows may be considered for a full-time offer, subject to business needs, available positions, mutual fit and appropriate work authorization. A full-time offer or visa sponsorship is not guaranteed.
