Banquet Captain

Job Overview Olympia Hospitality is looking for a confident and detail-oriented Banquet Captain to oversee events during the busiest season. This seasonal role offers a competitive hourly rate of $27-$30 plus tips and the opportunity to work a variety of exciting events. Responsibilities Assist with setup of banquet rooms, including arrangement of tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and decorations per event specifications. Ensure all equipment, utensils, silverware, audiovisual gear and lighting are clean, polished and operational. Greet guests upon arrival, escort them to assigned tables, and assist with seating as needed. Take food and beverage orders, using suggestive selling techniques to promote additional items or upgrades. Serve food and beverages promptly and accurately, following established service standards and presentation guidelines. Anticipate guests’ needs, provide personalized service and attention for a memorable dining experience. Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries, requests and concerns, resolving any issues with empathy and professionalism. Clear tables, remove used dishes and utensils, and replenish supplies throughout the event to maintain a clean, orderly dining environment. Assist with event breakdown and cleanup tasks, removing linens, folding chairs, dismantling decorations. Complete post‑event cleaning and sanitation procedures to maintain hygiene standards in banquet areas. Skills Required High-level customer service and effective communication with guests and team members. Ability to follow instructions, learn quickly, pay attention to detail and maintain composure under pressure. Experience & Education Serving and/or set‑up experience preferred. Familiarity and comfort with operating A/V equipment (in‑house and vendor). High school diploma and/or equivalent work experience. Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
