Job Summary

We’re seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Lead Host/Hostess to join our service team at Petit Ermitage , hotel known for its warmth, charm, and elevated guest experience. 

The Lead Host/Hostess is responsible for overseeing the host team and setting the standard on exceptional service. The host team is the first and last point of contact for guests, creating a warm, welcoming, and memorable arrival and departure experience. They must understand and embody the spirit of our hospitality while helping others do the same. This role is a vital link between F&B management team and host team to maintain smooth service, support team members, and cultivate a special, enjoyable experience for guests. Additionally, they are responsible for managing reservations, coordinating seating flow, and ensuring exceptional service standards are upheld from the moment guests enter the rooftop.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a warm, personalized first impression to all rooftop guests by welcoming and bidding farewell to all hotel guests while recognizing members, neighbors, and rooftop friends by name.
• Thoroughly understand the grid and able to effectively take reservations utilizing reservations systems, fit in walk-ins, re-grid based on flow, recognize and accommodate friends of the restaurant, and maintain friendliness and positivity through all your encounters.
• Develop and maintain communication templates for email booking requests, ensuring timely and consistent guest responses.
• Verify hotel guest status for reservations through Opera and maintain an accurate, up-to-date log of in-house guests.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Opera or other software system issues impacting rooftop operations and communications.
• Escort guests to tables while presenting menus and highlighting any special offerings. 
• Maintain clear communication with rooftop staff and management to ensure smooth table turnover and balanced service flow. 
• Monitor dining room activity to anticipate guest needs and support service teams as needed. 
• Answer phone calls courteously and promptly, providing accurate information regarding hours, availability, and restaurant offerings. 
• Ensure all FOH stations, including but not limited to front entrance, host stands, servers’ station, and coffee station, are clean, stocked, organized, and maintained before, during, and after service. Let managers know if anything is low in stock or in disrepair.
• Deliver a sincere farewell upon guest’s departure, inviting them to return for future visits. 
• Assist with opening and closing duties, including preparing menus, signage, side-work and reservation logs.
• Adhere to the highest standards of sanitation and safety, reflecting a commitment to excellence and guest well-being.
• Collaborate with all Food & Beverage team members to ensure seamless rooftop guest experiences.
• Strengthen communication and coordination between Front Desk and Rooftop teams to ensure seamless operations and an exceptional guest experience.
• Assist with organizing and communicating guest F&B packages and inclusions to the Rooftop team across both morning and afternoon shifts.
• Develop and maintain the host team schedule to ensure appropriate coverage and operational efficiency.
• Train, coach, and lead all hosts by providing real-time feedback, supporting new-hire F&B orientation, setting clear service expectations, and leading by example to ensure daily excellence and consistency.
• Handle special guest requests and proactively assist with resolving service issues and operational challenges as needed.
• Other duties as assigned. 

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum two-year experience as a Host/Hostess, guest services, or similar role preferred.
• Guest-centric mindset with a passion for hospitality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Professional appearance and demeanor. 
• Ability to remain composed and courteous in a fast-paced environment. 
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. 
• Basic knowledge of reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable) is a plus.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, bend, push, pullup to 35 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to entirety of the shift.
• Must be available to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Flexible scheduling availability includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Schedule & Compensation

• Position Status: Full-Time
• Availability: Must be available to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Compensation: Competitive hourly rate of $22.00 - $24.00, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is not eligible to participate in tip-pooling program.
