An Optometric Technician plays a vital role in supporting optometrists by conducting preliminary eye tests, preparing patients for examinations, and maintaining ophthalmic equipment. They act as a key liaison between patients and eye care professionals, ensuring a smooth and efficient clinical workflow.
Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists during eye exams by performing preliminary testing such as visual acuity and intraocular pressure measurements
- Prepare patients and explain procedures prior to examinations
- Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Record and document patient medical histories and test results accurately
- Manage patient flow and scheduling to maximize clinic efficiency
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols related to eye care procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years experience supporting optometry professionals
- Associate degree in Ophthalmic Technology or a related field
