Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Position Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy position working in an outpatient clinic in close collaboration with uro‑gynecology providers. Services are primarily focused on women’s health/pelvic floor issues but also serve men with pelvic floor pain and dysfunction. UNMH is New Mexico’s only Level 1 trauma center and the state’s premier teaching hospital. Members of the women’s health PT team often collaborate with the providers to present continuing education programs and frequently participate in uro‑gynecology fellows’ interviews and research. Educational opportunities abound. Many of our therapists also teach in the UNM physical therapy program. Experience preferred; however, new grads are welcome and, if selected, will be supported with a strong mentorship program. Compensation & Benefits Sign‑On Bonus Available. Relocation Assistance Available. Receive 17% weekday night differential, 26% weekend night differential, and 15% weekend day shift differential. Minimum offer: $40.04/hour. Maximum offer: $56.28/hour. Compensation for this role is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, and other business and organizational considerations. Position Details Department: WHC Physical Therapy FTE: 0.75 (Full Time) Shift: Days Position Summary Organize and deliver medically prescribed physical therapy to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part. Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Detailed Responsibilities Therapy – Evaluate patients to determine treatment goals; outline delivery of therapy according to assessed needs; plan a therapy program involving physical means to include exercise, massage, heat, sound, water, light, and electricity. Evaluation – Apply methodology for evaluation of functional ability. Consultation – Consult with medical staff on patient care. Education – Educate patient in use of specialized equipment, posture control, and therapeutic procedures. Instruction – Instruct caregivers on prescribed physical therapy regimen; instruct patients & caregivers on home & personal safety in various environments. Therapy – Adapt therapy techniques to meet patient needs. Training – Conduct training for medical, nursing and ancillary personnel in therapy techniques and objectives; provide clinical direction through mentoring, planning and implementing staff in service training. Supervision – Supervise & instruct Physical Therapy students and volunteers as delegated; delegate patient treatment responsibilities to ancillary staff as appropriate. Documentation – Document all patient care activities; process patient billing. Modifications – Assess home environment for modifications; make recommendations to maximize daily living activities. Supplies & Equipment – Order supplies and equipment. Insurance – Complete insurance documentation as required. Customer Relations – Establish & maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and hospital employees. Development – Enhance professional growth & development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in‑services, meetings and workshops. Patient Safety – Follow patient safety‑related policies, procedures and protocols. Patient Safety – Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes. Patient Safety – Identify & report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk. Patient Safety – Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner. Patient Safety – Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may “not seem right”. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree Education specialization: Related discipline Essential Experience: English & Spanish bilingual, or Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo; 1 year directly related experience. CPR for Healthcare/BLS Pro Volunteer or Professional Rescuer within 30 days. NM Physical Therapist License or Temporary License. Physical & Working Conditions Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, 10 to 20 pounds constantly; demands exceed Medium Work.
