Employment Status: Variable / Flex Shift: Day/Evening (United States of America) Facility: 101 Elm Ave - Roanoke Requisition Number: R160335 RN Practice - Occupational Health & Wellness - Flex Time (Open) How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare The Occupational Health and Wellness Nurse will manage and staff onsite clinics to include flu vaccine clinics, onsite screenings, health fairs, etc. This is a flex time position, working variable days and hours as needed. As a registered nurse, you are expected to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with our patients, their families, visitors, and with each other. As part of the health care team, RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. The registered nurse also utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care. Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum outcomes. Complete age‑specific admissions and ongoing assessments, document them, and use them to develop plans of care. Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, and families to develop and evaluate interdisciplinary plans of care. Revise plans according to changes in patient status. Accurately administer and document treatments and medications using electronic medical records. Identify, incorporate, and document patient/family educational needs in the plan of care. Contribute to performance improvement activities. Serve as patient advocate, protecting rights and providing psychosocial support. Apply knowledge of growth and development appropriate to patient populations. Perform within clinical, leadership, or education pathways to support evidence‑based care and performance improvement. Exhibit clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances. Plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption, and improve outcomes. Serve as a role model for clinical practice to coworkers, students, and physicians. Manage resources, establish priorities, and modify the environment to meet patient care needs. Complete predetermined projects within specified time frames and guidelines. Use problem‑solving methods to facilitate resolution of patient and personnel situations. Take an active role in orienting new employees. Provide feedback to staff with appropriate communication and documentation. Participate in unit, hospital, or system activities to facilitate staff participation in decision‑making and provide input on practice, environment, and work issues. Assist with education activities for the unit or department. Qualifications Education: Graduate of a professional nursing school of an accredited college or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam. Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Life Support: AHA BLS‑HCP required; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on the specific work unit. Other: Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
