Printed Circuit Board Design Layout Designer

Remote type: On-site. Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. Position: Full time. About the Role A Printed Circuit Board Design Engineer at MiniMed will partner closely with Electrical, RF, and Antenna engineers from concept to production, providing layout expertise to deliver hardware known for its reliability, scalability, and cost. Responsibilities Detail‑oriented designer with experience in schematic capture, high‑density multilayer PCB layout, flex and rigid‑flex circuit assemblies, RF and high‑speed signal routing, impedance control, length matching, and crosstalk mitigation. Work with high‑speed electronics, multi‑MCU systems for low‑power wearable devices, and class‑3 medical products. Create component footprints, models, and manage component libraries. Place components, route signals, generate Gerber and ODB++ files, preferably using Altium. Determine optimum layer stackup for PCB design. Experience with Altium Designer schematic capture or similar tools (e.g., Orcad), Altium A365, and PCB layout tools. Know industry standards such as IPC for board design. Collaborate with internal cross‑functional teams and external PCB manufacturing houses on DFM activities to resolve technical queries (EQs). Use CAD models to perform 3‑D clearance checks against mechanical enclosures. Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance. Generate Gerber files, document design, and create fabrication and assembly drawings. Understand ASME / ANSI documentation. Required Knowledge and Experience High school diploma or equivalent (United States); vocational or technical education or certification for other countries. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Nice to Have Expertise with Altium Designer tools. Experience with advanced PCB constructs such as blind, buried, micro, and stacked vias. Benefits & Compensation Salary ranges for U.S. locations (excluding Puerto Rico): $68,000.00 – $116,000.00. For California, Seattle, Washington DC, Boston, NY, the range is $76,000 – $128,000 USD. Compensation may vary based on experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Eligible for a short‑term incentive (STI).
