Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant/Medical Office Representative at Dignity Health Medical Foundation clinics, now part of CommonSpirit Health, you'll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team. You'll take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts- ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site.

Some of your daily activities will include:
- Assisting in preparing patients for examinations or procedures, assisting with procedures, relaying instructions from the physician to a patient or authorized person, and collecting patient data
- Administering medications specifically directed by the physician and performing accurate vital sign measurements and documentation.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment, and performing patient care services that support the physician / provider's practice under the clinical supervision of the Physician, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant, or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
- Comfortable managing medical records- charts and EMR
- Communicate and document any patient concerns to physicians, physician's assistants, or nurses
- Work with physicians, insurance providers, and pharmacies to obtain authorizations for patient medication, including refills

• Consistently demonstrates customer service expectations as outlined in the DHMF audit tools.
• Consistently makes eye contact and smiles.
• Demonstrates active listening with positive can do attitude.
• Consistently respectful, concerned, and shows empathy. Uses scripted greeting. "Thank you for choosing this is (your name) how can I help you".
• Uses scripted closing at every interaction. "Is there anything else I can do for you" Over the phone and as patients leave the clinic.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
• High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
• Satisfactory completion of formal Medical Assistant program pursuant to the Divisionof Allied Health Professions or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program (determinationby DHMF HR department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health)., upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Preferred

• 1 year 6 months experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant., upon hire and
• 1 year 6 months experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Office Receptionist or an equivalent amount of experience in a highvolume customer service role in another industry/environment working with referrals or scheduling surgeries., upon hire and
• Experience in billing. , upon hire and
• Prior call center experience preferred., upon hire and
• Experience with multi-line phones/ACD phones preferred., upon hire and
• Prior call center experience preferred., upon hire
