Senior Clinical Specialist, Pain Interventions - Columbia / Jefferson City, MO

Position Overview The Senior Clinical Specialist – Neuromodulation Pain, Target Drug Delivery and Interventional Therapies role is field‑based, requiring residence within the territory and driving to multiple accounts. A valid driver’s license is essential. This role supports surgical coverage, follow‑up support, troubleshooting, customer service, and education. Responsibilities Represent Medtronic as a device specialist during surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and products are available, providing technical support and device selection, and performing programming and testing of all device systems. Manage patients through all phases of the clinical process and educate them on the features and benefits of Medtronic products. Provide clinical support in surgeries, re‑programmings, troubleshooting, and follow‑ups in hospitals and clinics. Educate and train physicians, hospital personnel, and office staff on products and therapies, including one‑on‑one teaching sessions, in‑services, education programs, seminars, and outside symposia. Respond promptly and professionally to device‑related inquiries from customers and patients. Work flexibly to attend clinical events, possibly outside normal business hours, including weekends and after hours. Adhere to company policies, report and document events using Medtronic technology tools. Manage inventory for case coverage, ensuring timely transactions, accurate cycle counts, and proper product use. Contribute to quarterly goals at district, regional, and national levels. Maintain a working knowledge of competitive products. Visit accounts regularly to build relationships with office staff and healthcare providers. Place orders with customer service for pending purchase orders and product replacement. Ensure personal understanding of all relevant quality policies and system items. Assist management and sales training in education of new employees. Utilize Excel, mobile phone, iPad, laptop, and/or tablet effectively. Manage business expenses and budgets. Function as a clinical leader with autonomy and expert clinical acumen. Serve as the key contact for complex case coverage and troubleshooting. Participate actively in territory business planning aligned with sales objectives. Act as a field trainer. Mentor fellow clinical specialists. Complete all new hire therapy trainings as directed by medical education. Complete all corporate compliance training before due dates. Travel to cover district cases as needed. Qualifications Must Have (Minimum Requirements) High School Diploma or GED with at least 8 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or Associate Degree with at least 6 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of clinical or medical sales experience. Nice to Have Bachelor's degree in a health care related field. Master’s degree. Registered nurse or HCP with experience in a sterile environment. Clinical experience with implantable neurological products and patient care. Experience servicing medical personnel on product use. Experience with a medical device or pharmaceutical company in neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, operating room, pain management, or home health care. Understanding of basic reimbursement and healthcare environment. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure. Other Job Requirements Use healthcare universal precautions. Serve as primary resource for scheduled and unscheduled clinical events, including weekends, evenings, nights, and overnight travel within district. Work autonomously outside of clinical events. Attend national and district meetings and trainings as requested. Wear a 7‑9 lbs protective lead apron for extended periods in the operating room. Lift up to 40 lbs. Sit, stand, and walk for 8+ hours per day. Bend/stoop, squat, and balance frequently. Have close, distance, and depth vision, and ability to adjust focus for travel and operating computer use. Physical Job Requirements – Regularly mobile, interact with computer, communicate with peers and co‑workers. Must have a valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance; driving record will be considered. Must drive approximately 50% of the time within the territory and may require overnight travel. For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A). Benefits & Compensation Base salary range: USD 88,000‑132,000 (U.S. excluding Puerto Rico). Eligible for Sales Incentive Plan.
