Senior Grant Writer

Founded in 1965, the Chinese‑American Planning Council, Inc. (CPC) is New York City’s largest Asian American social services agency, offering more than 50 programs at over 35 sites throughout the city. JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Institutional Advancement, the Senior Grant Writer will work closely with the development and program teams to produce timely, accurate grant proposals, reports, and RFP responses that secure funding for CPC’s initiatives. The role requires strong writing, grant‑writing experience, and a proven record of winning multi‑figure public and private grants. RESPONSIBILITIES Write grant proposals and reports for foundations, corporations, and government agencies, communicating CPC’s mission and case for support. Collaborate with program directors to develop program design, logic models, budgets, and other attachments in line with RFP requirements. Collect outcomes, data, evaluations, and documentation for effective funder reporting. Research funding opportunities and donors; prepare prospect summaries for executive review. Study evidence‑based program models and fundraising trends to support competitive grants. Submit grants through city, state, federal portals and private foundation and corporate portals; conduct mailed submissions when required. Assist in producing annual reports and promotional materials such as donor letters and one‑sheets. Manage day‑to‑day fundraising administration, including grant review meetings and interdepartmental coordination. Track project deadlines, budget spend‑downs, and funder communication; keep teams informed of status. Partner with Special Events and Individual Giving teams to support fundraising goals and update the Annual Fundraising Plan. Execute special projects and additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree in fundraising, journalism, English, literature, library sciences, or related field is a plus. At least 3 years of fundraising, development, journalism, technical writing, or grant‑writing experience with a record of securing multi‑year, large grants. Skills Excellent oral and written communication, critical thinking, and the ability to translate agency goals into compelling materials. Advanced project management, organizational, and time‑management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines. Proficient with Microsoft Office and Office 365; Salesforce familiarity preferred. Knowledge of philanthropy sector and public funding systems. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Effective cross‑cultural communication skills. Proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin, or Spanish is a plus. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW $75,000 – $93,000 annually Competitive benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, commuter benefits, and a 403(b) retirement plan.
