Mechanical Engineer for AI Training

Apply advanced mechanical engineering expertise to help train AI systems that can interpret, solve, and explain complex engineering challenges across design, analysis, and research and development. This remote contract role is suited to engineers who bring precision, sound technical judgment, and clear communication. Prior AI experience is not required. Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and solve advanced mechanical engineering problems involving design, structural and thermal analysis, and research and development.
• Review AI-generated technical responses for correctness, accuracy, and engineering quality.
• Apply practical engineering judgment to real-world design and analysis scenarios as well as theoretical questions.
• Analyze and troubleshoot mechanical systems using finite element analysis, statics and dynamics analysis, thermodynamics, and vibration analysis.
• Provide domain input that improves AI reasoning in mechanical engineering.
• Document feedback and deliver clear written and verbal explanations that support AI learning and performance.
• Collaborate remotely with distributed experts and project participants.

• Master''s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or a bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8 or more years of relevant industry experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, analysis, or research and development.
• Expert knowledge of engineering mechanics, including statics and dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, finite element analysis, and vibration or structural analysis.
• Ability to analyze complex mechanical systems through finite element methods, hand calculations, and experimental validation.
• Familiarity with manufacturing, relevant ASME BPVC and other ASME codes, and design-for-reliability practices.
• Professional English proficiency and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong remote collaboration skills.
• Experience with FEA or simulation software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran, CAD platforms, or product research and development in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

• Strong preference for demonstrated rigor in authoring technical problems, such as serving on an olympiad problem committee; authoring textbook problem sets or solution manuals; writing items for an NCEES or academic qualifying examination committee; serving on an ASME BPVC or related codes or standards committee; achieving a top placement or team lead role in Formula SAE or Formula Student, ASME Student Design Competition or HPVC, NASA RASC-AL, or a DARPA challenge; receiving a best-paper award at ASME IMECE, IDETC, or Turbo Expo; publishing in JMPS; receiving an ASME Melville or Blackall Medal; or earning an early-career fellowship or grant such as NSF CAREER or DOE Early Career.
