Job Description
PACU RN - Perioperative Nursing

Schedule

12-hour shifts with a call requirement of 6 shifts every 6 weeks, including 2 weekend call shifts and 4 night call shifts.

Assignment Details

Minimum assignment length of 10 weeks.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year RN experience required; 1-2 years preferred.
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Current state nursing license (New Mexico license may be pending at submission).
• Experience with Phase I PACU care, pre/post-op assessment and monitoring, and dysrhythmia recognition/management.
• Familiarity with IV vasopressors, ventilator care, blood product administration, and malignant hyperthermia protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in the PACU setting.
• Monitor patients post-anesthesia for stability and recovery.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy as necessary.
• Support patient and family education pre and post-operatively.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Compliance / Notes

Drug screen required within 30 days of start. COVID vaccination documentation is required with exemptions allowed. Request time off is limited to a maximum of 7 days, with certain restrictions during the contract period.
