Human Resource Coordinator Illinois Marine Towing – Joliet, IL, United States The HR Coordinator is responsible for supporting HR operations and coordinating aspects of the employee onboarding experience. This role ensures new hires are successfully integrated into the organization by managing orientation scheduling, onboarding processes, and employee records. The HR Coordinator provides administrative support in areas such as recruitment, compliance, benefits, and employee communications while maintaining confidentiality and promoting positive employee experiences. Major Responsibilities Providing support to the Employee Relations function across all HR activities. Managing employee onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycles while partnering with internal teams to maintain efficiency, consistency, and a positive employee experience. Other Duties Performing other duties as required and directed by management. Carrying out the Business Philosophy, Code of Conduct, Mission and Vision of Illinois Marine Towing LLC and Canal Barge LLC. Traits and Attributes Strong organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Analytical thinking, flexibility, and problem‑solving. Organizational Relationship The HR Coordinator reports to the Human Resources Manager for CBC Northern operations. The HR Coordinator will be based to work from the Joliet Corporate office, with availability to travel to our Lemont and Channahon locations as needed. Experience & Education Associate’s degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 1–3 years of HR, administrative, or onboarding‑related experience strongly desired. Familiarity with employment laws and HR compliance practices preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in computer software, including Microsoft Office products. Must possess or be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods. Physical stamina for site visits. Ability to lift & carry up to 15 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination. Good vision & hearing. Capable use of safety gear including, but not limited to, hard hats, safety goggles, hearing protection, and steel toe boots.
