Field Service Technician

Job Description

Job Description

Do you enjoy working outdoors, fixing equipment, and seeing the results of your hard work? Are you mechanically inclined, enjoy troubleshooting problems, and prefer a job where every day brings something different?

If you're looking for a stable, year-round position where you can work with your hands, put your mechanical and electrical skills to use, and continue developing your technical abilities while working independently in the field, this could be the opportunity for you!

We're looking for a Field Service Technician to join our Service Department! You don't need to know ponds or fountains to get started. If you have hands-on mechanical experience, electrical aptitude, and enjoy solving equipment problems, we'll provide training on our products and systems.

The Pond Guy / Airmax, Inc. is the leading manufacturer and distributor of pond, lake, and water garden products, including aeration systems, fountains, and water treatments, to a nationwide network of end-users and Airmax dealers.

Watch now to learn about The Pond Guy:

Our Field Service Technician plays an important role in keeping customers' equipment operating safely and efficiently. You'll travel to customer locations to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair fountains, aeration systems, and other pond and lake equipment. You'll also perform preventative maintenance, communicate recommended solutions, and work directly with customers.

As part of our cross-trained Service team, you'll support pond and lake management activities, including aquatic treatments, with training and certification provided.

At The Pond Guy, we take pride in delivering quality service, building strong customer relationships, and treating customers like part of our family.

Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include.

• Travel to customer locations to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair fountains, aeration systems, pumps, motors, and related pond and lake equipment
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using testing equipment, determine appropriate repairs, and ensure equipment is operating properly
• Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential equipment issues before they become larger problems
• Prepare for daily service calls by organizing necessary tools, parts, equipment, and materials
• Communicate with customers regarding equipment issues, pond conditions, completed repairs, and recommended solutions
• Electronically document service calls, repairs, parts used, and recurring equipment issues, sharing trends with Quality and management
• Crosstrain in pond and lake management, including aquatic treatments, while following applicable regulatory and chemical safety requirements
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and work areas while following all safety procedures
• Support additional Service Department activities, including seasonal installations and maintenance, while representing The Pond Guy professionally at customer locations

• Experience operating heavy machinery a plus
• Basic knowledge of pond management, fish health, and wildlife behaviors is a plus

You bring a positive, solution-driven attitude where "can't" and "impossible" simply are not part of your vocabulary. You confidently troubleshoot equipment, navigate complex information, make sound decisions, and deliver exceptional customer service. Beyond completing day-to-day responsibilities, you continually look for ways to improve equipment reliability, identify recurring issues, improve processes, and add measurable value to the organization.
