Field Safety Manager

Overview Field Safety Manager – MTM Transit drives safe, reliable operations across Tucson, AZ. Location 829 West Silverlake Road, Tucson, AZ 85713 Responsibilities Lead, supervise, and mentor drivers to maintain a safe, reliable, and compliant fleet. Monitor driver compliance with company policies, federal, state, and local regulations. Conduct routine field observations on transit routes and vehicles. Respond promptly to on-route incidents such as accidents, breakdowns, or passenger disturbances. Document and report safety-related incidents, hazards, or violations. Audit and verify compliance with ADA requirements and other regulatory standards. Collect and analyze safety data to identify trends and recommend improvements. Assist in coordinating emergency response efforts when required. Communicate safety updates, new policies, and performance feedback to drivers and other team members. Partner with the Safety Manager to develop individualized performance improvement plans for drivers with recurring issues. Promote a culture of accountability and safety awareness among staff. Collaborate with training teams to reinforce safety and operational training for drivers. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Safety Manager. Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D.; minimum 5 years of transit/paratransit safety management experience. Minimum 2 years’ experience as a driver in a similar service. Minimum 1 year experience in Dispatch or Road Supervision. Valid Arizona CDL with Passenger Endorsement. No reckless driving offenses within the past 5 years, no DUI or DWI convictions, no convictions involving moral turpitude within the past 5 years. Pass DOT Physical, pre‑employment drug screening, and criminal background check. Knowledge of DOT and FTA safety regulations, accident investigation, and safety training practices. Strong organizational and analytical skills, conflict resolution, and communication skills. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Certifications & Skills Valid Arizona CDL with Passenger Endorsement. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
