ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform required laboratory testing for material development, quality control, and production support.
• Mix lab batches and mold samples for evaluation of material characteristics.
• Responsible for lab organization and cleanliness.
• Identify and troubleshoot problems with any of the equipment.
• Record all raw material samples received and lab batches produced.
• Accurately record, analyze, and maintain test data, raw material sample records, laboratory batch records, UL documentation, and other required laboratory files.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED and 2 years of work experience in a related field, required.
• Knowledge of chemicals and ability to work with technical testing equipment
• Receive and proactively attend training to develop standards and consistency within the lab and material development functions.
• Basic computer and data – entry skills.

• Strong analytical skills; possess the ability to work through technical issues
• Able to read technical documentations, understand specifications, and apply knowledge to solve problems
• Very organized; disciplined approach to documentation and reporting
• Self-motivated – ability to drive task-oriented projects without ongoing supervision
• Very perceptive observer
• Safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials, as well as following the proper use of PPE requirements (safety glasses, gloves, respirators, etc.)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• This position requires routine walking, standing, bending, and sitting.
• Must have the ability to lift 35- 50 lbs.
• Routine and frequent use of a computer is required.
• The technician will be required to understand and occasionally operate pilot-plant machinery and laboratory test equipment.

Summary

The objective of this position is to support the materials engineer in the development of materials to ensure compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, and manufacturing requirements.
