Summary The General Services Administration is seeking a Deputy Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Category Management within the Office of Acquisition Solution Development, Federal Acquisition Service, located in Washington, D.C. The role requires an online resume not exceeding 2 pages. Duties Provides expert technical advice and assistance to senior GSA and ASD leaders concerning governmentwide contracts, services, solutions, policies, procedures, and automated systems for Category Management. Provides strategic and change leadership to align ASD Category Management vision, mission, values, goals and objectives with GSA and national programs. Develops strategic and tactical plans for ASD Category Management, planning initiatives to achieve organizational goals and improve operations. Primary focal point for solutions design and product management activities; manages the portfolio’s supply channels and ensures responsiveness to current and future customer needs and industry trends. Co‑ordinates with ASD, FAS and GSA offices to align goals; oversees and evaluates organizational performance. Serious spokesperson for ASD Category Management; communicates vision and mission to external officials, industry, trade associations, OMB, Congress, state and local governments. Monitors acquisition strategies to ensure implementation of supply chain risk management and cybersecurity requirements. Keeps current on security developments in industry and shares information with executive leadership to enhance mission performance. Partners with Acquisition Management to ensure Category Management acquisitions comply with federal laws, regulations and best practices. Responsible for activities necessary to comply with OMB terms and reporting requirements for designated GWAC IT contracts. Requirements Resume‑only hiring method; resume must not exceed two pages. Other Conditions of Employment This is a critical sensitive national security position requiring a Top Secret clearance. Applicants may obtain this clearance after selection. Position is subject to random drug screening. Selected candidates must submit a Declaration for Federal Employment; male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must certify selective service status. Individuals selected for an initial SES appointment must have executive qualifications approved by the Office of Personnel Management. Selected candidates will serve a one‑year probationary period unless a prior eligible probationary period exists. Selected candidates must file a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 278) upon appointment. Qualifications Applicants must meet the Mandatory Technical Competencies (MTCs) and Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs). The two‑page resume should demonstrate possession of these competencies; separate narratives will not be considered. Mandatory Technical Competencies Experience working with executive‑level colleagues, employees, customers and stakeholders to identify, develop and implement solutions related to acquisition/management of Federal IT, telecommunications, professional services and key categories. Experience with category‑management principles: optimizing contract vehicles, managing data collection and analysis, leveraging supplier relationships, maximizing customer relationships, and establishing managing communities of practice. Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) Commitment to the Rule of Law and Principles of the American Founding. Driving Efficiency – ability to manage resources, budgets, cut wasteful spending and pursue efficiency. Merit and Competence – ability to produce work of exceptional quality. Current SES members whose salary equals or exceeds the maximum advertised salary for this position will not lose pay upon appointment.
