Location: Lincoln or Omaha, NE (50/50 hybrid) | Fully Remote available outside these markets

Work Arrangement: Lincoln/Omaha candidates will work a 50/50 hybrid schedule ; candidates outside these markets may work fully remote .

Are you an insurance investment accountant looking to take ownership of complex investment reporting for a sophisticated portfolio?

Our client is seeking a Lead Investment Accountant focused on investment accounting, statutory reporting, and regulatory reporting for a large life insurance investment portfolio. This is a technical lead role, not a people-management position , and offers the opportunity to become a subject-matter expert while partnering across accounting, finance, and investment teams.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead statutory and GAAP accounting for fixed income investments and mortgage assets .
• Prepare and review investment schedules, statutory financial statements, regulatory filings, and NAIC reporting, including AVR and IMR .
• Research and resolve complex investment accounting issues.
• Support internal controls, process improvements, and system enhancements.
• Serve as a technical resource and partner with auditors, regulatory examiners, and internal teams.

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required ; CPA preferred.
• 4+ years of insurance accounting experience, preferably within investment accounting .
• Candidates from a large public accounting firm may also be considered with meaningful insurance audit experience.
• Experience with fixed income securities, mortgage loans, or insurance investment portfolios .
• Knowledge of statutory accounting, GAAP, NAIC requirements, and insurance regulatory reporting .
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
